So I just purchased FXpansion's Geist2 Drum Sampler. In this version, the sampling options are ALL in the drum pads. Geist is a complete rhythm environment in software, capable of turning out anything from simple 'x0x' patterns to elaborate. A kit consists of 16 pads, each with as many as eight Layers. You can view and edit a complete pattern 'x0x'‑style. Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz processor (as a minimum, but higher recommended).
I know nothing about Geist. I would assume each of the banks 1 thru 8 can be assigned to a midi channel and an out. (1-2, 3-4 etc.) If so, then create 8 midi channels and group them. Load Geist to the first channel strip. This will be Geist, midi channel 1 and out 1-2. The remainder channel strips place an External Instrument on each one.
In the 2nd channel strip in the External Instrument select Geist 2 (Thats the midi channel) and out 3-4. And so on.This works for Maschine, I also used it on Superior Drummer 2.I hope that helps. Set it to Geist channel 9. Geist on channel 9 will play whichever of the 8 engines is currently select. Or you can use Channel 10 and it plays all 8 engines across the entire midi keyboard. Thank for your help! But let me give you an other way to use geist-push combo. If you have live 9.1 or higher plus the latest firmware, maybe you know you can use the melody sequencer. You can use the the 16 pads at the bottom 2 lines. 1st line: geist pads 1-8.
2nd line: pads 8-12. U can use the melody sequencer instead of geist sequencer to record it live, use the nudge and stuff like that. For me the remix mode is missing here, but im doin it in the ableton midi clip.So set it up:1.Load Geist to Ableton.2.Set the Push to Key C, Chromatic mode.3.Click on the Note mode. Then hold the shift to select scale layout 'Seq'1Now you can use the 16 pads nicely.
